The Mendip Nature Research Station at Wells Hill Bottom is a spacious purpose
built centre situated on the B3135 Cheddar road, high on the Mendip Hills. It is within easy reach of the major
Mendip caves, and of course the pubs. The station consists of a fully equipped kitchen, common/dining room, library, laboratory, ladies and gents
toilets, hot showers/changing rooms, member and guest dormitories sleeping 13 and
15/6 respectively, extensive campsite and car park. Members may use the station at
any time, but guests and associate members must book in advance.
The common room is spacious with a central fire place and ample seating. There is a pay phone for visitors use.

Things have come a long way since The Old Hut. In 1980 it was decided that the old nissen hut which had been the base of the MNRC for a number of years was getting beyond repair. In 1981 the members set about building the New Station. The new Station has been built entirely by members of the MNRC.
